What do the members do?
The members are involved in quarrying and producing construction materials such as:
Ready-mix and pre-cast concrete
Asphalt
Concrete blocks and paving slabs
Building stone
Recycled aggregates
Agricultural lime and a wide range of aggregates
The Figures
Collectively the members account for over 90% of Devon’s aggregate and building products. We operate from 19 sites in Devon alone and provide employment directly and indirectly for more than 1,000 people. Our products provide the raw materials for the construction industry, which is one of the most important sectors of the local and national economy. What does the DSF do?
The Federation provides a vehicle for sharing experiences and a common voice for the quarrying industry when addressing local and national issues concerning the production and use of aggregates.
What issues do we address?
The Federation puts forward its views on planning, product development, health and safety, and environmental issues. We also respond to consultation requests from the Local Planning Authorities in Devon on planning applications for surface development in and around Mineral Safeguarding Areas.
